What Is Guided Dental Implant Surgery?

Traditional freehand implant surgery relies heavily on the surgeon's clinical judgment, experience, anatomical landmarks, and radiographic information to determine implant position during the procedure. Those skills remain essential.

With computer-guided implant surgery, however, we can add another level of planning. We first create a detailed digital representation of your mouth using:

  • High-resolution intraoral digital scanning
  • Digital models of your teeth and bite
  • Virtual implant-planning software & Digital restorative planning

Before the actual procedure, Dr. De La Riva can evaluate where the implant should enter, its angle, depth, and diameter, ensuring it is perfectly positioned to support the final tooth. Once the plan is finalized, a customized surgical guide can be created to help transfer that digital plan to the patient's mouth.
